Indoor Jungle – get into the greenery trend

Greenery, one of the most overused words of 2017 – for a reason though.

Indoor plants can easily lift any dreary space and at a fraction of the cost. The trick is to do it right and to choose the right plants for your specific living area or lifestyle.

Here are some tips on how to achieve the perfect indoor jungle and let your inner Jane shine.

Assess and buy

It is important to choose the correct type of plant for your space and lifestyle– check if it needs direct sunlight all day and whether it needs constant watering.

You’ll know whether you’re the ‘Oh snap! I haven’t given leafy water in over a week’ or the ‘get the spritzer and spray my Orchid at 5 pm every full moon’ type of person.

Be bold

Use one bold plant per room, something like a lush Palm in a belly basket will do nicely.

Make it stand out

Combining greenery with monochrome in the home makes the green of the plants pop and enhances the tribal style you might be going for.

Texturise

Succulents always look great on a coffee table or floating shelf, and are easy to look after. They add texture to any space. Plant a few different varieties in one pot or plant separately in different pots to add more fun and colour.

Decor as food

Use windowsill herbs as décor in your kitchen, this way your kitchen looks great, and you can feel like an original Masterchef.

Fern it up

Low maintenance

No kiddos running around? – a cactus makes a statement on its own.

No Fuss

If you’re not ready to commit to a living plant, opt for cut options like Eucalyptus leaves or that of the Monstera Deliciosa. Place in a vase and voila! Your house is now trendy.

And that’s it – mix and match these suggestions and your home will look like the best indoor jungle in town.
